“ Ah…Black Lycena, what treachery does your seduction shadow? ”
– Charon to Liliana, TUT: Neoteric, Verse II
As a Handmaid of the Night, Liliana is a Jane of all trades, and a master of none. Though, there is one thing that the brothers of the Vestry could say she has mastered, and it is that avenue at which she most excels. Taking to Izabel Ethbaal, the Mistress of Consorts, more than most, she uses her innate sensuality to the fullest. Generally that involves wrapping as many men around her finger as she can. For now, this practice is confined to the Vestry, but in times of war and conquest, the Sacred Record tells of many a Handmaid of the Night who’s unique skill set proved invaluable in the toppling of great enemies.
Her renown among the men, and infamy among women aside, Liliana is known to be quite the powerful woman among Consorts, and she trains in every field available to women of the Vestiary. That being as a Singer, a Weaver, and a Spinner. But above all, as a Handmaid, Liliana is entirely unpredictable.
Like all her sister Consorts, Liliana attends the needs of the Vestiary by aiding and abetting the greater part of the organization. But, as a Handmaid, in times of war that would mean strategic placement as aid, advisor, and even concubine to the leaders of the great mortal powers, or as a deep cover agent. In peace, learning and preparing to ply those skills in service to the Persecutors.
Appearance
Her long white hair being the first notable aspect to her, it frames a beautiful, lightly square-oval face replete with full red lips, and a smidgen of red makeup touching each cheek and crossing a lightly upturned nose. Slight freckling upon the same brings forth a depth and texture that disguises her inward vapidity. But, truly, the most notable aspect is the way she moves. Taking after the Mistress of Consorts, her every step is a calculated maneuver, and she uses this to disarm men and women, alike. Men, for obvious reasons, but women with jealousy, envy, and even admiration. Her presence can only be described as bold when she wants it to – which is almost always the case.
Biography
Raised by the Elders on Saturn like all Strayers, Liliana has held the same personality as she’s always had. In her youth she was manipulative, controlling, and possessive – all traits which could have landed her as a Spinner of Sorrows. But as she aged, she showed an apt proclivity for the secret art of murder, and for this was made a Handmaid of the Night.
In her late teens, Liliana had been appointed to an all-female cloister of the Way of Eternal Enlightenment in the rural regions of Old Rus. Her purpose there was to infiltrate and overthrow a small group of suspected Dissidents, while operating as one of the WoEE’s pious adherents. Aided only by “a little Pressure,” (her words) she’d had the rebel group exposed and fighting amongst each other within six days, all while the cloister suspected of nothing. According to her report, she’d seduced one of the lower ranked members, before stoking jealousies, killing him, then immediately acquainting herself with a higher ranked man, thus sowing distrust. Soon the whole organization was compromised, and those Dissidents who escaped reported that a succubus had entered their midst and pitted them against one another.
In spite of her status as a Strayer, for this feat she was given the honorable name “Black Lycena” by Pontifex Barnabus. After much deliberation, the decree was said to have been reluctantly recorded in the Sacred Record by the Council of Thirteen.
