Description

Saturn was previously thought to be a gas giant, but this was due to a perpetual storm shrouding its surface from vision and detection by early technology. It was a coincidence that Seekers discovered its potential for terraforming.

During a chance break in Saturn’s raging storm, a spectroteloscopic sensor happened to be pinging in the direction. What it detected was solid ground, and even vast wastelands of rock and sand. Beside this, a series of crystals and stone of unknown make, formed in patterns too uniform to be natural. Shortly after, an unmanned aetherial probe was sent to investigate. Focusing upon the site of interest, the probe descended through the atmosphere to glimpse something that could only be described as a black temple set upon a raised mound. The probe was destroyed by the storm moments later, but not before transmitting the data back to Earth.

A follow-up team of advanced rovers arrived in record time to search out the interior of the temple. What was found there is classified, but manned missions were the next to arrive.

A painting of the first manned mission to Saturn can be found on Archlight in the Hall of Histories, within the Wing of the Ascendancy.
