The supreme authority in regards to all information and scientific research, the Seekers of the Ascendancy are a core joint in the backbone of OEA society. Although it is the various Corpos that perform the majority of research and development, most funding is funneled via the Seekers, and it is the Seeker’s guiding hand which determines the flow of discovery and the revealing of technologies. There is nothing that is released to the public without first receiving a Seeker stamp of approval.
History
Very little publicly-available information has been released for the common Debtor, but what is known, is that unlike the Office of the Perpetual Questioning, or even the Ministry of Service and Loyalty, the Seekers of the Ascendancy have been around since before the founding of the OEA. It is rumored that the Seekers themselves are the Ascendancy. That the other branches exist merely for appearance sake, and, functioning as a front, are actually beholden to the Seekers*.
*Note: The spreading of any rumor challenging the authority of the High Seat is a transgression punishable by: conscription into the Fleet or Skirmishmen, de-beardification, sterilization (if Debtor is fertile), or no less than five (5) years service mining within one million (1,000,000) Sectors of Archlight station. Debtors are to report all suspected rumor-mongers to their nearest Ascendancy Authority, immediately. Due diligence will be rewarded.
