A Persecutor within the Vestiary of Pursuers, Pioter is an Aligner of Machinations, which places him squarely in a lesser-class than his best friend, Azaniah, whom is an Aligner of Mysteries.
If appearances can be called deceiving, then Pioter’s first-glance confidence is betrayed by a slight slouch and soft demeaner. But, beneath the extrerior is a keen intellect, almost obsessive attention for details, and dismissive separation from the suffering of others. This has allowed him to pursue the Machinations to greater extent than any other Persecutor.
Although he is selfish above all things, Pioter does hold his fellows Strayers in extremely high regard. Among those few, he also greatly respects Pontifex Allom Barnabus. Outside of these, he leans on his Strayer brother, Azaniah, to know whom to trust.
Pioter looks up to Azaniah as much as a younger brother looks up to his elder brother. Although they are the same age, Azaniah bears an air of one with the wisdom of a man approaching his forties, and that fact has commanded Pioter’s complete acquiescence since they were children. It is also a fact that has dragged Pioter into many troubles he would have rather avoided.
Outside of Azaniah, Pioter both trusted and respected the recently deceased Hezekiah Strayer, whom died under mysterious circumstances.
Appearance
Pioter is an unassuming man of an average build, whom carries himself with a false air of assurance – though this facade of confidence often falls apart in the face of women. If not for how he styles his hair and beard, he would easily vanish in a crowd. As for this hair, it is silken-black, long, and commonly fashioned as a smooth ponytail or allowed to hang loose. The only facial hair he is capable of growing is his long goatee, which he maintains meticulously. As a Persecutor, he wears the vestments with markings that suit his position as an Aligner of Machinations. His overall face shape could be described as somewhat flat and rectangular. With beady black eyes, he looks past a thin nose set beneath thick black eyebrows upon a recessed forehead. His jaw and neckline is neither too prominent nor recessed, but seems to suit him perfectly.
Biography
Born roughly in 2255EE, like all Strayer-born, Pioter is among the orphaned children of the Pogrom. As such, he views his fellow Strayers as brothers and sisters. He grew up at the Pursuer Temple Mount on Saturn, under the stern tutelage of the Elders of the Vestiary. Though he grew up surrounded by all the Strayers, it was especially Azaniah and Hezekiah whom Pioter was closest with.
At some point while on Saturn, Pioter Strayer was involved in an incident with Obelisk corporation. Pioter and two other Persecutors infiltrated and stole sensitive information and technologies from Obelisk Universal HQ. In the process, eleven Obelisk securitymen were killed. Following, the High Seat ordered an investigation into the matter, which resulted in the deaths of two Oculus Askers and six Remedial Ascendancy Skirmishmen. A third Asker from that investigation is still listed MIA. This event was logged under the Ascendancy Saturn Delegation as Incident 496.
